The Cleveland Roundtable
(February 20, 2020)
Topic of Discussion
Approaches for “Strategic” vs “Sustaining” Innovation
Innovation programs often struggle when the organization triages all innovation efforts through the same set of lenses. When everything coming out of R&D or the innovation team is subject to the harsh glare of quarterly performance metrics, only incremental ideas tend to survive. On the other hand, breakthrough innovation programs without the proper structures in place can quickly degenerate into undisciplined speculation. In this roundtable, we’ll discuss best practices for approaching each innovation horizon on its own terms.

We designed the Innovation Roundtable format to be as intimate and personalized as possible. In the innovation management world, the best practices are constantly changing. You need a community of peers where you can meet other leaders and learn from each other.
At our roundtables, there are no Powerpoints, no sales pitches, and no gimmicks. We’ll have three hours of group discussion and dialogue on a key topic of shared importance – and that’s it. We also produce an summary of the learnings to share with both participants and the broader innovation community.
Our roundtables are a trusted networking forum for senior innovation leaders at some of today’s leading companies, including AT&T, BNY Mellon, Bose, Caterpillar, Exelon, ExxonMobil, Mercedes-Benz, PepsiCo, Pfizer, Philips, US Cellular, Whirlpool, and many more.
